Job summary
Broadway Medical Practice are looking for an experienced Medical Receptionist to join our friendly well established practice team. We pride ourselves on excellent patient centred care so the candidate should excel in their customer service skills and have excellent communication skills. The candidate should have can do attitude to be able to support the team to deliver the best possible care.
Main duties of the job
The role will entail being the first point of contact into the practice, working on a busy reception answering phones, booking appointments, generating prescriptions, general admin duties, scanning documents, registering new patients, generating hospital appointments, dealing with a wide variety of queries from patients and the wider team including external healthcare professionals.

Job responsibilities
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
- To act as first point of contact in the practice for patients and visitors.
- To deal with a wide range of reception and administration duties.
- Keeping reception area tidy, clear and stationery up dated and full.
MAIN DUTIES
Opening reception area ready for the practice opening.
- Opening reception area ready for the practice opening.
- Dealing with patients and visitors presenting at reception.
- Making new and review appointments.
- Initiating hospital appointments referrals.
- Generating repeat prescriptions and actioning hospital letter to change patient medications with the approval of a clinician.
- Dealing with all routine enquires and giving non-clinical advice.
- Advising patients on leaving medical/insurance forms including handling collection of fees.
- Efficient communication with GPs, practice manager, practice nurses, attached staff, hospitals, and other outside agencies.
- Accurate completion of blood, urine, and other test requests.
- To be responsible for own list of jobs.
- Filing of repeat prescriptions promptly in alphabetical order.
- To have knowledge of how each clinic is run.
- Keeping GPs rooms tidy and fully always stocked with stationery.
EXTRA DUTIES MAY INCLUDE
- Chaperoning GPs if required
- Helping in the main office which may include:
- Taking and recording messages for all staff.
- Taking and recording requests for home visits.
- Ensuing premises are adequately secure with senior staff before leaving on an evening.
- Any other duties designated by practice manager or deputy in their absence.
