Medicines Management Administrator
Accountable to:GP Prescribing Lead/ GP Partners/Medicines Manager/Practice Management Team.
Hours:Thirty hours per week (permanent contract subject to successful probation period of six months)
Salary: £22,819.00 per annum, whole-time equivalent (National Minimum Wage will apply for probation period)
Job summary:
Responsible for processing all prescription orders from patients via EPS or paper prescriptions for GP signing and authorisation. Good organisational and interpersonal skills will be required for the role. The ability to multi task and working to strict timescales will be essential.
The ability to work well with other members of the team and to assist in the training of new staff may also be a requirement of the role. This role will be expected to work afternoons up until 18:30, Monday-Friday.
Main duties of the job
The
successful applicant will be working to agreed protocols for the Practice and
the Medicine Management Team. They will also assist the Medicines Manager with
administrative tasks.

Communicating with Pharmacies/Chemists/Care

Issuing online prescription requests including
via emails
Processing requests from local Residential/Care
Homes
Administrative tasks
Ensuring patient data on the clinical system is
correct and up to date including Pharmacy preferences
Covering any other administrative work as
required during periods of annual leave
Assisting in Medicine Management duties as and
when required.
Main
duties of the job
- Issue and re-authorise repeat meds on
a daily basis, online and paper requests
- Issue prescriptions from other
Clinicians .i.e. District Nurses, and other clinicians where appropriate
- Process prescriptions for the Nursing
Homes.
- Reduce the level of unwanted
medicines by decreasing the issue of inappropriate prescription items.
- Synchronise repeat medication.
- Replacement and ordering of Oxygen
- Update and order medication for
Clinical bags and drug cupboard.
- Develop and enhance communications
systems on repeat prescribing.
- Ensure All Medicines Management
Practice protocols are up to date and in line with statutory
requirements and directives.
- Submit the monthly prescriptions to NHS
Prescription Services.
- Attend relevant courses and training
events.
- Run audits
- Collect data to monitor improvements.
