Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Salaried GPs to join our team here at Central Gateshead Medical Group.

(One permanent post of 6 sessions and One 6 month fixed term contract of 4 sessions)

Main duties of the job

We are looking for hard-working, committed GPs who will play an active role within our team to maintain our values and help develop patient services in the future.

The post holders will provide patient focused General Medical Services to the practice population. There will be a mix of surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with tasks and queries, paperwork and correspondence and will be carried out in a timely manner and with the required due care and attention.

They are expected to be an active member of the practice team, contributing to practice development, service innovation and will be encouraged to develop area(s) of special interest.

Our clinical team comprises of five Partners, three salaried GPs, two Nurse Practitioners, two Practice Nurses , a patient facing prescribing Pharmacist, three HCAs and two Primary Care Navigators. Our dedicated administration team are highly trained and competently reduce the admin burden on GPs by processing incoming paper and electronic documents and managing choose and book referrals.

The Practice is successful, financially sound and well managed. We are forward thinking and actively engage and lead in ICB initiatives and the innovative work of our local GP federation and PCN. We believe that we are well positioned to take advantage of new developments and cope with the many challenges of todays NHS.

We are proud to be a training Practice and welcome GP Registrars, medical students, pharmacy students and apprentices and are highly rated by those who spend time with us. We also have a varied weekly programme of practice meetings including, MDTs, safeguarding and Governance, clinical topics and have a daily coffee catch up for clinicians.

  • A medical practitioner whose name is included in the General Practitioner Register under article 10 of the General and Specialist Medical Practice Order 2003.
  • Not subject to suspension under section 41A of the Medical Act 1983.
  • Qualified General Practitioner (complete certificate of completion of training CCT).
  • Currently on a performers list and not suspended from that list or from the medical register.
  • DBS clearance.
  • Have had an annual NHS appraisal.
  • Knowledge of local and national health policy.
  • Knowledge of health promotion strategies.
  • Relevant knowledge of Safeguarding, Mental Capacity Act, health and safety, equality and diversity.
  • Wider health economy awareness.
  • Knowledge of clinical governance issues in primary care.
  • Desirable
  • Knowledge of public health issues.
  • Up to date knowledge / experience family planning and womens health management.

Desirable

  • Evidence of further postgraduate educational activities in relevant fields.
  • MRCGP.
  • DCH.
  • DRCOG.
  • Evidence of CPD activities.

Experience
