Are you an experienced, motivated, and friendly medical receptionist looking for a new opportunity? We have an exciting opening for a Medical Receptionist/Administrator at our NHS GP surgery.
As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of our practice. Your friendly demeanor and excellent customer service skills will make our patients feel welcome and supported.
In this varied role, you will be responsible for greeting patients, booking appointments, handling telephone inquiries, processing prescriptions, and maintaining accurate patient records using our SystmOne software. Strong administrative and IT skills are essential, as is the ability to work calmly under pressure.
While previous experience in an NHS or primary care setting is preferred, it is not essential. We are happy to consider applicants with transferable skills from other customer service or administrative roles. An understanding of medical terminology and GDPR compliance would also be advantageous.

Main duties of the job
- Provide a warm and friendly welcome to all patients and visitors, ensuring they feel valued and supported
- Handle a high volume of incoming phone calls, responding promptly and professionally to patient inquiries and booking appointments
- Process prescription requests and liaise with pharmacy teams to ensure timely medication supply
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using the SystmOne practice management system
- Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, photocopying, and data entry
- Help with the coordination and organization of the clinic, working closely with the clinical team
- Demonstrate a flexible approach and willingness to support the wider practice team as needed

About Earls Court Surgery
Earls Court Surgery is a well-established GP surgery located in the heart of Earls Court, London. We are a friendly and close-knit team dedicated to providing the highest standard of primary care to our community.
Our core clinical team consists of two full-time GP partners and an experienced Nurse Practitioner, supported by three part-time Clinical Pharmacists. Together, we offer a wide range of general practice services, from routine check-ups to the management of complex, long-term conditions.
Overseeing the smooth running of our practice is our highly skilled Practice Manager and Deputy, who ensure all administrative and operational aspects are handled efficiently. The reception team, which will include you as our new Medical Receptionist/Administrator, is the friendly face that greets our patients and handles their inquiries with care and professionalism.

KEY TASKS: Reception duties:Greeting and booking in or patients for surgeries and clinics.Dealing with patient enquiries efficiently and courteously.The receiving and recording of telephone messages taking appropriate actionMaking appointments on System One, by processing appointment requests fortoday, future appointments from patients in person and on the telephone.Restoring the telephone service in the morning and checking for any messages.Dealing with all telephone queries/requests from patients, and acting as liaisonwith the Doctors/Nurses as necessary.
