Main duties of the job

The job

You will be working with our clinical teams to deliver the best primary care healthcare service to our patients. More specifically, our HCAs are responsible for the normal primary care clinical HCA duties and clinical administrative work.

Clinical responsibilities include:

  • New patient health checks and other health screening
  • Urinalysis and prepartion of specimens
  • Blood tests and phlebotomy
  • Long term condition reviews where appropriate
  • Ear Irrigation and vaccinations including flu/pneumococcal vaccines
  • Dressings and wound-care
  • Patient education and promotion of health and well-being
  • Gathering lifestyle data from patients
  • Infection control and equipment management
  • Vaccination management and clinical stock control

Were a small group of close-knit surgeries in South East London. We use a multidisciplinary approach bringing together GPs, Nurses, HCAs, Pharmacists, Paramedics, Mental Health Nurses and our non-clinical team to deliver an efficient and effective service with best in class outcomes for patients.

With high levels of patient satisfaction (> 4* on Google at all our sites) and low waiting times, we've been able to grow to over 70,000 patients and we continue to grow at a rapid pace.

We serve our patients across 8 CQC Good rated sites in Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham, with each site having its own dedicated multidisciplinary team.

The role of a Penrose Health HCA is to assist the GPs and practice nurse team in the service and delivery of the care management of the practice population.

More specifically, HCAs are responsible for:

Working under indirect supervision of the practice nurse team leader

Undertakes task and duties delegated by the practice nurse/Lead Nurse or a suitably qualified regulated professional.

Work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients, following policy and procedures while providing supervision to more junior staff if required.

HCAs report to the Nurse Lead and lead GPs.

Location: This role will involve covering multiple sites across South East London

Hours: Ideally full time (weekdays), part time also considered

Salary: £26,000 - £30,000 FT depending on experience.

  • We are looking for someone who has more than 12 months of experience working in a Primary care GP practice, EMIS experience and the ability to learn new IT systems.
