Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Practice nurse to join our friendly, experienced nursing team. You will be a caring, professional treatment room nurse who thrives on working in a busy environment and enjoys the variety of primary care.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for safe and effective delivery of primary care nursing service as part of the practice multidisciplinary team and should be able to offer long term condition reviews, health prevention and promotion while supporting the management team to implement and evaluate local policies, guidelines and pathways.

About us

We are a three-partner practice with approx. 11,000 patients based in a modern purpose built premises. We have four salaried GPs, 3 Practice nurses, 1 HCA, and a variety of ARRS workers that support our Practice and PCN including Paramedics, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Mental Health workers and Clinical Pharmacists.

We are a huge training practice, working alongside multiple medical schools and we pride ourselves on providing the very best placements. Teaching, Learning and Education development is at the heart of our core values. We feel that it is very important to general practice that we encourage and show the students the importance of general practice and hopefully we are helping provide the NHS with the next generation of clinicians.

Job responsibilities

You will be required to undertake general treatment room duties. As a minimum these

should include;

Phlebotomy

Provide Wound Care (leg ulcer care/doppler when necessary)

Dressings

Leg ulcer Care

Suture removal

Cervical Screening

Childhood & Adult Immunisations

ECGs

Provide Chronic disease reviews clinic ensuring read codes are used effectively

Injections (B12, Influenza, Covid, Shingles Pneumococcal vaccines

Blood pressure monitoring

Processing and management of samples as required

Vaccine/cold storage, monitoring and recording

Be able to make appropriate referrals to specialist services/community services when necessary

Ideally you will also be able to carry out;

Travel immunisations

Contraception

However, we offer ample opportunity to upskill and train in different areas to support your

personal growth and development as well as support the practice.
