Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and dedicated Practice Nurse to work alongside our team.

We are looking for a full time Practice Nurse ideally 37.5 hours, however, part time hours will be considered for the right candidate.

Main duties of the job

You will help to deliver nursing services to our local population including but not limited to immunisations, smear testing, travel vaccinations, B12 & Depo injections, ECG's and managing long term conditions. There are also some administrative duties including filing and reporting on blood tests, arranging depo and smear appointments and answering queries from patients.

Duties also include weekly/monthly home visits for housebound patients including visiting care homes to carry out new patient medicals and LTC reviews.

About us

Dr Tun & Partners has 4 GP partners, 1 ANP, 3 Practice Nurses and serves 7500 patients. We are part of Hindley PCN and have a number of additional roles working within the practice including a GPA who works closely with and is supported by the Practice Nurses.

As a forward-thinking practice, we require a similarly motivated and enthusiastic Practice Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team.

Job responsibilities

Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by GP Partners.

Cytology

LTC Reviews

Travel Clinic

Asthma/Peak Flow Readings

Hypertension Management

Routine immunisations/Childhood immunisations

Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician

Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs

Following agreed clinical protocols.

Other tasks will include

Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs

Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required

Chaperoning and assisting patients who are being examined by another clinician.

Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms

Ordering of Health Promotion Literature

Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels

Participation in administrative systems in the Practice. At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records

Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required.

Undertake home visits

Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post

  • Current NMC registration.
  • Registered General Nurse, recognised qualification to diploma level
  • or above.
  • A demonstrable commitment to continued professional development.
  • Cervical cytology training/qualification
  • Child imms training/qualification.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of diabetes management, respiratory and asthma.
  • Knowledge of smoking cessation advice.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Ability to use own judgement, resourcefulness and common sense.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of an integrated multi-skilled team
  • Pleasant and articulate
  • Able to work under pressure and in a changing environment.
  • Ability to self-motivate, organise and prioritise own workload.
  • Have enthusiasm, with energy and drive.
  • Hard working, reliable and resourceful with a considered, steady approach.

  • Knowledge of EMIS clinical system.
  • Basic IT skills.
