Job summary

We are looking for a medical receptionist to join our friendly reception team. The role will involve a variety of reception and administrative work. We are a very busy GP practice using EMIS clinical system, Docman and Ask My GP for appointment requests.

The practice is looking to recruit someone for 37 hours per week Monday to Friday, however, part-time will be considered for the ideal candidate. The candidate must be flexible with working hours to cover for holidays/sickness when required.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate needs to have excellent communication and listening skills. The role includes:

Dealing with face to face and telephone requests for appointments, visits, medication queries and general enquires and signposting patients to the appropriate health care professional (training will be given).

Computer data entry and processing information in accordance with practice procedures.

Booking hospital appointments using the e-referral system.

Dealing with emails, incoming and sending.

The duties are extremely varied according to the workload at any time and the candidate will be trained to carry out a variety of administrative duties.

About us

We are a 4 partner GP practice serving approximately 8000 patients in Hindley, Wigan. We have 1 ANP and 3 Practice Nurses. Our administrative team consists of a Practice Manager, Assistant Practice Manager and a number of receptionists. We are a training practice, therefore, we have trainee GP's at the practice on a regular basis. We are part of Hindley PCN and have physiotherapist, GP Assistants, care coordinator's and mental health workers working at the practice.

  • Good effective communications skills on the telephone and face to face with patients and other health care professionals.
