Job summary

Due to retirement of our long-serving Senior Partner, we are looking for a keen and committed salaried GP to join our friendly, supportive team.

We are looking to cover 4 sessions per week, and we are very flexible to accommodate different working patterns for the right candidate. You will become a key part of the team, already consisting of 8 GPs supported by experienced and organised nursing, management and administrative teams as well as our wider PCN attached team including pharmacists, paramedics and social prescribers.

We are a well-established practice serving 13,500 patients across two sites in High Wycombe, a large, diverse town in Buckinghamshire with excellent schools and amenities, minutes away from countryside with great transport links to London.

We offer the BMA model contract with 6 weeks annual leave, 1 week study leave, NHS Pension and MDU cover.

Main duties of the job

Manage a caseload & deal with a range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake a variety of duties including consultations, queries, visiting patients at home & prescriptions
  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers
  • Assessing the health care needs of patients with undiagnosed problems
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors & early signs of illness
  • Developing care plans
  • Providing counselling & health education
  • Admitting or discharging patients to & from the caseload & referring to other care providers as appropriate
  • Recording clear consultation notes using the Practice clinical system
  • Collecting data for audit purposes
  • Issuing computer-generated acute & repeat prescriptions
  • Compliance with all relevant Practice policies
  • Summarising of patient records & Read-Coding patient data
  • Contributing to the Practice achievement of QOF & other performance targets
  • Attending training/events

About us

Desborough & Hazlemere Surgery is a well-established practice serving 13,500 patients across two sites in High Wycombe, a large, diverse town in Buckinghamshire.

You will become a key part of the team, already consisting of 8 GPs (including 2 Partners) supported by experienced and organised Nurses/Health Care Assistants, management and administrative teams as well as our wider Primary Care Network attached team including pharmacists, paramedics and social prescribers.

There is a friendly atmosphere established at both our sites, a long we a 'can do' work ethic. There is a loyal and well established team in place, with a very low staff turnover rate.

All GPs and staff are invited to have an input into the development and smooth running of the Practice.

Job Summary:

The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • In accordance with the Job Plan as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
  • Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
  • In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health

  • Completed GP Vocational Training Scheme
  • Experience of working in a Primary Care Environment
  • Minimum of one year experience working as a GP in the UK
  • Experience of Medicines Management

  • Strong IT skills
  • Effective time management (Planning and Organising)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
