Job summary

Vauxhall Primary Health Care is looking to appoint a General Practice Assistant to support the delivery of services to our patients. We are a busy practice with over 8,500 patients.

The successful candidate will have excellent IT and communication skills and be experienced in both patient care and the production of service delivery reports.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will assist the practice monitoring and achievement of Quality and Outcome Frameworks and other DES/LES specifications The General Practice Assistant will support the call and recall systems in the practice and provide regular reports on achievement against targets.

GPA will support the smooth running of the practice by undertaking routine administration and clinical tasks on behalf of the GP freeing up their time to focus on the patient.

The GPA will support the practice to achieve Network priorities.

About us

The role is based in Vauxhall Primary Health Care working with a supportive team of clinical and administrative staff.

We have 4 GP partners, 7 salaried GPs, 2 practice nurses, 1 Trainee Nurse Associate, 1 HCA, 3 locum ANPs and 5 regular GP locums. The practice has a health and wellbeing coach and a social prescribing link worker along with a team of pharmacists and technicians.

As a training practice we host medical students and up to 3 Trainee GP registrars.

Job responsibilities

Production of monthly reports of activity against targets for Network and other contractual targets

Oversee process for invitation of patients for review through call and recall process

Sorting clinical post and prioritising for the GP in terms of actions. Distributing clinical correspondence to others such as clinical pharmacist etc.

Producing quarterly activity reports for enhanced services provided by the practice

Liaising with commissioners and providing evidence of patient activity where required.

Extracting all information from clinical letters that needs coding and adding to notes

Arranging appointments, referrals, tests and follow up appointments of patients

Completing basic (non-opinion) forms and core elements of some forms for the GP to approve and sign

Supporting the achievement of network priorities

Assist with any other duties commensurate with the role
