Job summary

A new post is being created for an experienced HCA to join the clinical team within a small GP practice in Deal. The successful applicant will be working alongside a paramedic practitioner and two practice nurses to support a busy GP. You will need to be able to work independently whilst still being part of a committed team. The job is initially for 16 hours a week but there will be scope for additional hours, so flexibility is a must.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be required to carry out :

  • Venepuncture,
  • Wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks
  • ECGs and routine and 24 hour BP monitoring
  • Immunisations and Vaccinations
  • Health checks
In addition to this the applicant will be expected to record accurate clinical notes and support the practice nurse with the management of chronic diseases, health promotions as well as being responsible for ensuring that clinical areas are safe and free from hazards and are generally fit for purpose and meet required standards.

Job responsibilities

The core responsibilities are:

  • undertake new patient health checks
  • support the practice nurse with health promotion programmes
  • carry out baseline observations such as pulse oxymetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, recording findings accurately.
  • facilitate routine and 24 hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly
  • undertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as necessary
  • support practice nurses with the management of chronic disease
  • carry out BMI checks
  • act as chaperone
  • undertake venepuncture
  • administer immunisations and vaccinations
  • carry out ECGs
  • ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
  • ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the guidelines.
  • Deliver opportunistic health promotion as appropriate

  • Integrity and loyalty to the demands of the post
