Job summary
Staffa Health, rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission, is a large, well-led, innovative training practice, with a focus on the highest quality of care for our patients. We are looking to expand our team with one or more Salaried GP's that can contribute to sustaining and further improving the exceptional level of care we provide. We have 4 - 8 sessions per week available, we are happy to split the sessions between one or more GPs for the right candidates. Visits to the practice are welcomed prior to application.
Situated in a semi-rural community, close to the beautiful Derbyshire Peak District we have 17, 276 patients, providing services over 3 sites and utilise the clinical system SystmOne.
You will be one of 11 GPs supported by 3 Advanced Clinical Practitioners, 2 Clinical Pharmacists and Pharmacy Team, a highly skilled nursing team, and motivated and enthusiastic administrative support staff. We are a training practice for STs, F2s, medical students and student nurses. We have high achievement in QOF and a high level of patient satisfaction. Main duties of the job
Provide a range of General Practice consultations, telephone calls, urgent and non-urgent appointments for registered and unregistered patients.
- In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, triage system, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, patient test results, patient medical reports and examinations (e.g., Insurance Companies).
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
- Recording clear and contemporaneous I.T. based consultation notes to agreed standards.
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible).
- Prescribing in accordance with locally agreed or national guidelines.
- Referring for on-going treatment in accordance with locally agreed or national guidelines.
- Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g., prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health, and safety, CQC.
- Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation.
- Attend training, Practice Meetings and events organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate.

- Current registration with the GMC & appropriate representation with recognised medical defence organisation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to work with limited supervision.
- Understanding of the pressures faced by GPs and healthcare teams.
- Willingness to contribute to and participate in a peer support group.
- DBS check (undertaken before the date of appointment).
- Strong levels of IT proficiency and familiarity with primary care clinical systems (the Practice uses SystmOne), experience in using the Microsoft suite of programmes.
- Proven ability to handle a busy and varied primary care case load.
- Proven ability to offer support within a clinical team and share learning points in Practice meetings.
- Ability to draft cogent, error-free letters and reports in a timely manner.
