Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Practice Nurse to join our friendly nursing team, to assist in the delivery of high quality, kind and compassionate care to our patients.

The position would ideally be either 27.75 worked over 3 days or 37 hours worked over 4 days.

Main duties of the job
Main duties of the role will develop with the individual and may include:
Actively participate in clinical and practice meetings
Develops clinical protocols for the surgery and the team
Provide chronic disease management for Diabetes, COPD, Asthma, and CHD/CVD
Perform cervical screening and promote breast awareness
Administer adult and paediatric injections
Provide adult and child immunisations ensuring full achievement of targets
Ensure safe storage, rotation, and disposal of vaccines and drugs
Undertake venepuncture and electrocardiography
Undertake wound care/ management / dressing techniques
Undertake leg ulcer management, dopplers and compression bandaging
Provide advice on lifestyle issues, assisting and supporting patients in changing their unhealthy behaviours and refer appropriately
Participate in the smoking cessation service
Deliver travel health care, including vaccinations and advice for patients
Work with safeguarding teams where relevant Ensure that current evidence-based approaches to patient care are standard practice
Apply infection control measures when collecting and handling of laboratory specimens, disposing of waste materials, dealing with blood and body fluids spillages and report and treat sharps injuries
Audit outcomes of care against standards and initiate change as necessary ensuring follow-up audit cycle Maintain and update disease registers
About us
Our practice is situated in the heart of this East Devon coastal town in an area of outstanding natural beauty.We provide medical services to approximately 8,400 patients who live in Budleigh Salterton and the surrounding villages.
We recognise that General Practice is a challenging and dynamic environment. We are constantly changing the way we work and developing our clinical and administrative skills to meet the demands of a modern GP Practice.
We are a team of 6 GPs who are supported by 2 practice nurses, 4 health care assistants, GP assistant, 2 practice managers, an assistant manager, an office manager and 12 administrators and receptionists.
Within our boundary we look after the residents of six care homes and the students of Bicton College which is a residential agricultural college.
The practice is part of Woodbury, Exmouth and Budleigh Primary Care Network (WEB PCN) and we work collaboratively to deliver additional integrated primary care services to a combined population of just over 51,000 patients. Together we have a growing PCN Team who support our practices and include, Pharmacists, First Contact Physiotherapists, Frailty Care Support Team and a Mental Health & Wellbeing Team.
