Job summary

We are seeking a full-time Practice Receptionist to join our friendly and supportive reception team to work across our three family-friendly GP Practices in Calne and Sutton Benger.

This role goes beyond greeting and booking-in our patients as you will also manage several administrative tasks and handle high volume patient enquiries, both in person and electronically, while being a part of our fabulous and highly skilled team of business professionals and Clinicians. Therefore, the ideal person will be computer literate to a high standard with the ability to multi-task effectively. Previous experience of working in a health care setting is desirable but please dont let this deter you because full training will be provided!

Main duties of the job

Ensure effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice.

Deal with general enquires and make new and follow up appointments.

Use own judgment and communication skills to ascertain the best outcome for patients with no prior appointment booked, but who need urgent consultation are seen by the appropriate person i.e. GP, Minor Illness nurse or Health Care Assistant.

Explain practice procedures to new patients regarding all aspects of the services provided, including temporary residents.

Receive and make telephone calls as required. Take messages ensuring accuracy of detail taken from all calls to the surgery making sure all are passed promptly and to the appropriate member of staff.

Enter requests for home visits onto the computer system, making sure all details are accurate and any additional information required to carry out the visit is recorded.

Enter patient information on to the computer as required.

Open the premises at the start of the day de-active the alarm and make all necessary preparations to receive patients.

Close down all computers in reception; turn on mobile at 1800 when telephones are transferred. Check with the Duty Dr before leaving the surgery.

Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the Reception Manager, Practice Manager and Partners.
