Job summary

We are looking for a Healthcare Assistant with excellent patient care skills to work within our surgery 3 days per week.You should be a calm and reliable person, have strong communication skills, be able to uphold confidentiality principles at all times, be computer literate and be comfortable working under pressure and with our team.

Main duties of the job

Knowledge and ability of taking blood pressure, ECG recording, flu, pneumonia, B12 injections, lifestyle/dietary advice and phlebotomy are essential.

About us

St John's Medical Practice is located in Sevenoaks, Kent and has easy access to the M25 and rail links to London.We are a small friendly team consisting of 2 GP partners, 1 salaried GP, 2 Practice Nurses, 1 Pharmacist Plus our admin team.Our surgery consists of approximately 8,800 patients.

Blood pressure check, New patient health checks/heart checks, ECG recording, Phlebotomy, INR testing, Spirometry, Chaperoning duties, Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses, Cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment,Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording, Surgical equipment and re-stocking and stock rotation (excluding vaccines), Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms.

Any other duties for which you have undertaken training and peer supervision e.g. flu vaccinations, pneumonia and B12 vaccinations, dietary/lifestyle.

  • Experience of dealing with vulnerable patients.

  • Experience of working in a GP practice

Qualifications

Essential

  • Ideally you will have the HCA Care Certificates, HCA skills and competency in ECG, NHS Health Check and working with patients with long term condition such as diabetes, although training will be offered to the right candidate.

Desirable

  • Qualified in Phlebotomy
  • Qualified to NVQ level 3
  • GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
  • Qualified to NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care
