Manchester Road Surgery have an exciting opportunity for a GP to join our friendly, supportive and forward-thinking practice.
The opportunity is for 3-5 sessions across the week with a view to partnership for the right candidate.
We are a long established training practice with a list size in excess of 5400 patients which is growing year on year. We follow the Modern General Practice model using the Klinik AI triage tool and we are comminted to delivering excellent holistic, person-centred care to our patients.
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated GP to join us to support Manchester Road in continuing to provide an excellent healthcare experience for all of our patients.

Main duties of the job
Fulfil their share of Routine and Urgent appointments both face to face and over the telephone / video call. Prescribe as per local & national guidelines
- Accept a share of visits routine and emergency;
- Accept responsibility and time-manage completion of administration: letter, results, referrals, telephone calls and home visits;
- Accept and manage a share of queries relating to patients;
- Take responsibility for appropriate referrals (following local guidance and good medical practice) and administration pertaining to them,
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the Practice
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
- Meet targets for QOF as part of day to day role;
- Sign repeat prescriptions;
- Complete a share of insurance & DWP reports & medicals;
- Complete cremation forms and death certificates,
- Cover for colleagues in exceptional circumstances such as sudden illness, taking into account the individual doctors external commitments such as childcare.

The Manchester Road Surgery team consists of
- 2 GP partners
- 3 salaried GPs
- An Excellent established nursing team, highly
competent in the management of patients with chronic disease. Connsisting of 2 nurses and 1 Healthcare Assistant
- Friendly and highly efficient admin and
reception team, providing a first-class service for patients and offering
extensive support to the wider clinical team consisting of a Practice Manager, a Secretary, an Administrator and 4 receptionists
We are part
of an exciting new network with dynamic leadership looking at implementing some
exciting new improvements to practice systems. Together with our network, we also have a practice
pharmacist, social prescribers, first contact physios as well as a Paramedic
and we are currently looking at how best to provide mental health care for our
patients. We provide our own Enhanced Access service, meaning our patients have
access to late night appointments within their own surgery.

Job responsibilities
- In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
- Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols
- Providing counselling and health education
- Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
- Collecting data for audit purposes
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)
- Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
- In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
