Job summary

Applicants must be able to receive and direct patient's in accessing the appropriate service or health care professional, in a courteous, efficient and effective way.

Applicants will provide a first point of contact for patient's and act as a focal point of communication between patient's, Doctors and other Healthcare providers

Applicants must project a positive professional and friendly image to patient's and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

Previous experience is essential

Have a thorough knowledge of General Practice

Previous NHS experience

Excellent IT skills

Experience in Office procedures - Appointment Booking, Telephony, administration, Scanning etc

Ability to work as part of a team

About us

Atlas Medical Practice is a 13,000 Patient Practice. We have 5 Salaried GP's, 1 Regular Locum GP, 3 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 3 Practice Nurses, 1 Nursing Associate and1 GP Assistant. we have 2 Practice Manager and 1 Deputy Manager, our Administration consists at present of 12 member of staff. we have staff that work alongside the Practice, which are provided by our Primary Care Network, these consist of First Contact Practitioners, Physician Associates, Social Prescriber, pharmacists and a Mental Health Care worker. We are a training Practice for Student Doctors.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Administration - To have a thorough knowledge of Practice Procedures, to work in accordance of written protocols, open and read all incoming post, date stamp and distribute for scanning, coding and tasking from hospital letters, summarising of new patient records, dealing with deduction of patient records, respond to patient queries, taking home visits, action requests to outside agencies, deal with solicitor requests within the timeframe, be competent in secretarial duties referrals and reports completion.

Reception - Receive Patients, action prescription requests, signposting, completing assessment of needs for patients booking appointments at the desk, answering patient queries.

Appointments - Process appointment requests for on the day or in the future, by telephone or in person completion of an assessment of needs for each patient is necessary. Monitor the flow of patients in to consulting and treatment rooms efficiently.

Computer - Registration of new patients, processing changes to patient demographics, repeat prescriptions, accessing and completing actions from NHS Net account, Footfall, Due Diary. Actioning task on a daily basis, action referrals.

Telephone - Have a working knowledge of the telephone system, receive and make calls in a professional manner, deal with general enquiries from patient s and outside agencies, transfer calls internally.

Confidentiality - Respect patient privacy and act appropriately in accordance with the practice Confidentiality procedure. All information relating to the Practice as a business organisation or information relating to patients is to be regarded as strictly confidential.

Health & Safety - All staff are involved in promoting and maintaining their own and others Health, Safety and Security.
