Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic General Practitioner (GP) to join us as ‘Duty Doctor’ PCN GP as soon as possible, to support our forward thinking, friendly, multi-disciplinary PCN team on the Great West Road in Hounslow, Middlesex. This is an exciting, newly created post, to work as an autonomous practitioner in supporting the medical care of our GWR PCN population of 70,000.
Main duties of the job
We are recruiting for up to 10 sessions per week. Ideally, 5-6 session for 6 months fixed-term contract with the possibility of extending if the role is successful in its purpose.
You will support the PCN allied health professionals with queries, mentoring, help with clinical triage in the digital hub and provide some remote/face-to-face support to the PCN Practices.
You will be supported by a strong team, including Clinical Director and 9 GP leads, as well as experienced administrative and practice management staff, pharmacists, a physician associate, first contact physiotherapists, paramedic and social prescribers.
About us
Our PCN was established in 2019 and facilitates the delivery of more integrated care. Our PCN covers defined geographical areas to enable us to respond to the needs of our local populations. We are small enough for relationships to flourish, but large enough to provide a broad scope of PCN services.
The 9 practices within our PCN are: Cranford Medical Centre, Clifford Road Surgery, Crosslands Surgery, Dr Sood's Surgery, Healthy in Your Own Skin, HMC Health Heston, Skyways Medical Centre, The Medical Centre and The Jersey Practice.

Background
We are seeking a GP to join our growing multi-disciplinary PCN team, working across the GWR Primary Care Network that consists of nine GP Practices with a population of 70,000 patients in Hounslow, West London.
Job Summary
To work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the PCN population including a same day urgent clinic. Delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the GMS contract.
Furthermore, the post-holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the PCN, leading by example and maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.
Primary Responsibilities
Core responsibilities of the PCN Duty Doctor are to:
a. Deliver highly effective medical care to the PCN population
b. Provide an urgent same day face-to-face clinic/remote appts for the PCN
c. Be the daily point of contact for clinical queries from other PCN staff such as Physician Associates, First Contact Paramedics, Physiotherapists and Clinical Pharmacists
d. Mentor and clinically supervise allied health professionals (AHPs)
e. Be ‘on call' for urgent queries sessions only
f. Prescribe adhering to local and national guidelines
g. Process administrative work in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks
h. Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance
i. Work collaboratively with other PCN staff
j. Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process
k. Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the PCN
l. Attend and contribute effectively to PCN meetings as required (monthly)
m. Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, always promoting a culture of continuous improvement
There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and support staff levels.
Secondary Responsibilities
In addition to the above, the PCN Duty Doctor may be requested to:
a. Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care
b. Participate in the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structured approach i.e. root cause analysis (RCA)
