Debenham Group Practice - Suffolk Primary Care
Part of Suffolk Primary Care, we are a three site PMS
dispensing practice. Due to recent growth in our list size and as part of our
succession planning, we have a vacancy for a new additional Salaried GP to join
our team. With our main site at Debenham and branch surgeries at Otley and
Grundisburgh, our current clinical team consists of 4 GP partners, 3 Salaried
GP’s, 3 ANP/Nurse Practitioners, 2 Practices Nurses and 3HCA’s. We also have
the additional benefit of further support from our PCN clinical pharmacist team
and paramedics.
The role can be very much tailored to the right individual
with full support given for any on-going career and personal development. We
are a very friendly and supportive team both clinically and administrative and
are a teaching and research practice.

Main duties of the job
Main purpose of the
role: The
post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs
in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all
registered and temporary patients. This will in time, include being duty GP as
part of the On The Day rota.

Whilst SPC has a small dedicated research team we encourage GPs to undertake
Good Clinical Practice Training and welcome participation in
research studies.

Clinical
Responsibilities:
- In accordance
with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self
available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery
consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at
home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries,
patient test results, reports and other paperwork and correspondence in a
timely fashion
- Make
professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems,
whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within
the organisation
- Assess the health
care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
- Screen patients
for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
- In consultation
with patients and in line with current practice disease management
protocols, developing care plans for health
- Provide counselling
and health education
- Admit or
discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care
providers as appropriate
- Record clear and
contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
- Collect data for
audit purposes and complying with QOF
- Compile and
issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
- Prescribe in
accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically)
whenever this is clinically appropriate
- Participate in
teaching and supporting medical students
- In general the
post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and
responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
