Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, dedicated and
highly motivated person to join our Derby Road Practice of 18,100 patients in
Ipswich. The practice has 2 sites, Derby Road and Pinewood and the successful
candidate will be expected to work at both as part of this role. The practice
has 4 GP partners, 4 salaried GPs, 4 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 2 Practice
Nurses and 2 HCAs. This is an additional
role to support our ongoing care of patients with long-term conditions.
We require a reliable HCA to join our friendly and supportive
team
You will be part of a supportive and professional nursing
team. Experience is preferred but if you do not know how to perform some of the
tasks, support and training can be provided. The vacancy is for 37.5 hours per
week. Flexibility is crucial to accommodate training, holidays and occasional
sickness.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be required to do the following:-
- Venepuncture
- Authorised vaccinations and injections e.g. (but not only) Flu and B12 under PSD
- Health check screening
- NHS Health checks
- Diabetic foot checks
- Spirometry
- Blood Pressure checks/24 hour BP monitor/Home BP monitor
- ECG
- Lifestyle advice
- Learning disability health checks
- Severe mental illness health checks
- Simple dressings
- Wound swabs as needed
- Urinalysis
- Chaperoning
- Preparation and processing of lab samples
- To consult Patients face to face, via video and on the phone
- Make appointments and enter information on a clinical computer system
- Support colleagues and other health professionals
- Adhere to infection control procedures.
- Maintain a professional/caring attitude at all-time towards patients

To assist

supervision of a registered healthcare professional. The HCA will work
collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of the
patients, following policy and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
The
health care assistant works under indirect supervision of the nurse manager and
is accountable to the practice nurses, nurse manager and GPs for her/his
actions in undertaking delegated work. However, this is guided by standard
operating procedures and requires the individual to use a degree of initiative.
The health care assistant also provides support for other members of the
primary healthcare team and contributes towards the coordination of team
activities.
