Job summary

The Cardinal Medical Practice (formed as a result of a recent merger between Chesterfield Drive, Deben Road and Norwich Road) have a great opportunity for an experienced Receptionist to join us at this very exciting time.

As part of Suffolk Primary Care, Cardinal is the largest Medical practice in Suffolk providing GP services to over 30,000 patients across Ipswich and as part of our ongoing plan for further growth, we are also progressing a move into a new purpose built facility in 2024.

Main duties of the job

  • Take calls from patients, responding to queries and booking appointments (face to face or telephone) in accordance with practice care navigation protocol
  • Respond to enquiries from patients attending reception
  • Receive and record requests for home visits
  • Deal with all administration relating to notification of the death of a patient
  • Book appointments and deal with the administration relating to private medicals e.g., HGV and DVLA medicals etc

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that all administrative tasks are completed on time and in an efficient manner.

  • Register and deduct patient records
  • Deal with external correspondence and ensure it is dealt with in a timely manner and all actions are completed.
  • Scan and file information into patient records
  • Update patients’ records as appropriate to reflect changes
  • Summarise records for newly registered patients
  • Deal with actions arising from patient results, correspondence and from other sources.
  •  Scanning of incoming post and prescription requests in a timely manner to colleagues at other sites.
  •  Utilisation of the appointment matrix within the AskMyGP guide to ensure appropriate appointments are booked with the relevant clinicians.
