Nene Valley Hodgson Medical Practice has an exciting vacancy for an additional Salaried GP to join our friendly team. Anything up to 8 sessions considered

  • Long established Training Practice, training ST1s ST3s, FY2s and Medical, Nursing & Pharmacy Students placements - the opportunity for you to be involved in training

Main duties of the job

Day to day work - The post holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care including:

  • Patient consultations either face-to-face, telephone or video
  • Take part in the on-call rota
  • Nursing Home MDT ward rounds - these are usually undertaken by our Community Matron but be we do need our GP's to be involved to support her work.
  • Home visits - are few and far between
  • Clinical admin including completing tasks and filing or actioning results and documents/reports
  • Assisting with medical emergencies within the Practice when needed
  • Providing support to other members of the clinical team and offering support to GP Trainees
  • Participating in team meetings
  • Contributing to audits where appropriate or necessary
  • Clinical Governance
  • Opportunity to be involved with medical student training and GPST training if you are keen.

Nene Valley Hodgson Medical Practice has two sites; Nene Valley at Clayton, Orton Goldhay Peterborough PE2 5GP and Hodgson at Hodgson Avenue, Werrington, Peterborough, PE4 5EG and we look after 19,500 patients across the two sites.

We are a 6 WTE partnership with a good mix of male and female Partners, Salaried GPs with 2 ANP Partners and our Business Manager is also a Partner.

This exciting vacancy is for an additional Salaried GP to join our friendly team. We are open to discussion on the number of sessions per week, anything up to 8 sessions considered for the right candidate.

Our Staff includes 3 Salaried GPs, 4 ANPs, 4 NPs 3 PNs, 1 Community Matron, 5 HCAs 2 Clinical Pharmacists, 1 Pharmacy Technician, 2 SPLWs, 2 Care Co-ordinators, with full a compliment of administration, reception and management staff

We have developed a care-navigation tool in-house

GP Fellowship offer - newly qualified - local Fellowship in General Practice, for newly qualified GPs. 2-year programme, support & education

Weekly Clinical Meetings and monthly Clinical Governance half day closure afternoons

Actively involved in Clinical Research through NIHR - opportunity to be involved in research if you desire

This can provide you with a 2-year programme of support and education. As part of this fellowship scheme, you will benefit from early career learning, mentorship, peer support and coaching.

NB. You do not have to be a newly qualified GP to apply for this vacancy, the fellowship offer is just extra support if you are.

New ways of working - Currently we are developing new ways of working and the successful candidate will be involved in the formation of our practice as we like to involve all staff in these decisions. You would be expected to work at both sites. The successful candidate will be forward thinking and looking to develop their career with us and there is potential for a partnership role.

Team - We have an experienced multidisciplinary team in place including ANP’s Practice Nurses, HCA’s, Pharmacists, we are also recruiting Social Prescribers and Pharmacy Technicians through the ARRS funding route. We have direct access to first contact physiotherapy through our PCN, which is onsite. We are a high achieving, well organised practice, who use SystmOne and Arden’s.

Specialist roles - We have weekly Clinical Meetings and monthly Clinical Governance afternoons. We encourage staff to undertake CPD and have staff who also undertake specialist roles, such as LTC, mental health, minor operations and women's health and clinical research.

Training - Our Nene Valley site is a GP Training Practice, and we also host Foundation year 2 Doctors and Medical Students from both Leicester and Cambridge University, so an interest in teaching and training would be both encouraged and supported.

Clinical Research - We have an active clinical research contract with the local CRN, one of our Salaried GP’s is our active research Principal Investigator.

Primary Care Network - We play an active part as members of Octagon North PCN which covers 85,000 patients.
