Job summary

Key areas of responsibility

The post holder is responsible for the delivery of respiratory diagnostic assessment and testing of adult patients referred from CLICK PCN practices with possible asthma and/or COPD. The post-holder will be experienced in performing and interpreting the results of spirometry. They should either hold ARTP certification or be prepared to work towards achieving this as soon as possible.

The post-holder will also perform FeNO testing. No previous experience of this technique is required, and training will be provided. The post-holder will supervise an HCA undertaking tests and take an appropriate history from the patient. The post-holder will use the history and test results to provide a diagnostic formulation to the referring practice based on algorithms incorporating NICE guidance. The formulation may suggest further tests required by the referring practice e.g. peak flow variability but will not provide treatment recommendations. The work of the Hub will be overseen by a GP who will be available to provide support on interpretation but not present on site during clinics.
