Job summary

The Surgery Team Leaders lead our non-clinical Surgery teams, ensuring a high-quality service is provided to patients, and providing compassionate leadership for all Surgery staff.

The post holder will be required to ensure all operational aspects of the site are running smoothly on a daily basis. Any issues will need to be resolved in a timely manner, ensuring effective communication with the management team.

Working pattern:

Monday: 08:00 - 14:00

Tuesday: 12:30 - 18:30

Thursday: 08:00 - 14:00

Friday: 0800 - 14:00

Main duties of the job

You will work closely with other Surgery Team Leaders as well as clinical staff, to take ownership of routine Surgery site operations and liaise with the wider Management Team and Executive Team as required for escalation of any issues that cannot be dealt with locally.

In agreement with your peers, you will work either at a dedicated site or in a floating/cover role across sites.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To manage Surgery staff on site, including all first-line HR responsibilities, such as coordinating rotas and training, supporting staff with welfare needs and absence management.

To be accountable for the delivery of services by Patient Service Clerk (PSC) and Patient Administration staff on site, supporting them to take ownership of all appropriate Surgery-related tasks and queries in line with agreed policies and processes. Where required, to also carry out PSC and Patient Administration duties where demand requires it.

To manage local aspects of the clinical system (SystmOne) including appointment templates, and monitoring clinician leave to ensure appointment availability is up-to-date at all times.

To support or co-ordinate other aspects of the individual Surgery operation, including Health and Safety (via the H+S Leads), Fire Safety, internal room usage, furniture and equipment maintenance and stock levels, ensuring the site remains fit for purpose and liaising with appropriate colleagues where this is not the case.

To facilitate an effective channel of information from Management or Executive Teams to all staff on site and vice versa.

To work closely with other Surgery Team Leaders to ensure a consistent, high quality service delivery to all Adam Practice patients irrespective of site.

To seek out opportunities to improve Surgery site operations, making local changes where appropriate or escalating to appropriate Management Team colleagues for further consideration.

To lead and support staff in resolving local complaints informally and at the earliest possible opportunity. Where required, support formal complaint investigations and responses in conjunction with the Complaints Manager and Group Operations Manager.

To monitor the quality and effectiveness of all aspects of Surgery operations, performing reports and audits to identify opportunities for improvement.

To lead on the local Surgery implementation of new or updated services and processes, and the planning and cascading of training to all staff.

To help maintain a Quality Improvement culture across the Practice, leading by example.

To demonstrate and uphold the Practice Values at all times.
