Job summary

We are looking for a receptionist/administrator to join our small busy practice. You will work with a long standing close multidisciplinary team requiring additional support to cover our reception / admin team.

Experience would be preferable but not essential, as training will be provided

Hours required are 2 pm till 6 pm each day

Main duties of the job

Working with our existing admin/reception team, carrying out daily reception duties using Care navigation and SystmOne.

Dealing with patient queries and prescription requests.

Providing support to our clinical and admin team.

About us

The practice consists of a small close team, who have worked together for many years. We are very open, supportive and approachable. We have a very low turn around of staff.

Our main practice is in a purpose built building in Shotton Colliery.

We have a list size of 3500 patients covering the Peterlee area including surrounding villages.

We are a member of Durham Coast Primary Care Network working collaboratively with local practices in Shotton and Wingate.

Job description

Job responsibilities

We are looking to appoint a part-time receptionists/administrator to join our small busy GP practice who will be the first point of contact for patients, contractors, and visitors as well as carrying out general reception / admin tasks. Hours required are 2pm till 6pm each day

You will be responsible for the general administrative and reception duties within the Practice and work with our established processes, policies and procedures to provide a comprehensive high quality service and deal efficiently and courteously with patient enquiries.

You will need excellent communication skills, a compassionate and friendly nature who can operate in a busy environment with a range of people and professions, as you will be working our clinical and administration teams.

Your regular duties in this role will be dealing with telephone, face to face and electronic enquiries, booking and/or amending patient appointments and home visits, contacting patients to provide information from the clinical team and assisting patients to access our services and those available in the wider community.

This role is ideal for someone who is highly organised and an effective communicator who can provide a professional and warm welcome to our patients, ensuring every contact is of the highest quality.

IT skills are preferable, as you will be inputting and processing data. You will also process prescription requests and provide a full administrative and secretarial service.
