Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and flexible receptionist to join our successful and friendly village GP practice. The successful candidate will need to be confident and committed to work within a busy reception, having excellent IT and communication skills and be willing to work flexible hours and provide cover for team members at short notice.

The candidate will be required to work various shifts between 07:30-13:00 and/or 13:00-18:30 Monday to Friday.

Our Reception team welcome patients in a polite and friendly manner, either in person or via the telephone whilst completing a range of tasks throughout their shift.

Main duties of the job

Daily tasks you will be required to carry out:

  • Answer all phone calls in a courteous and professional manner;
  • Book patients into appointments in-line with practice procedures, including making amendments and cancellations;
  • Maintain confidentiality of all doctor, staff and patient information;
  • Deal with online enquiries received via the surgery website;
  • Receive samples, ensure they are labelled correctly and ready for courier collection;
  • Complete workflow tasks during the course of the day;
  • Ensure consultation rooms are fully stocked on a daily basis;
  • Sign-post patients to alternative, more appropriate services when necessary.

About us

Capelfield Surgery has been established in the Claygate community for over 30 years and has a steady patient size of 8,000. We have three GP partners; four salaried GP's, and a nursing team consisting of a Practice Nurse, Paediatric Nurse, Respiratory Nurse; Health Care Assistant and Phlebotomist. We also have a very supportive Management and Back Office team.

  • GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths.
  • Experience working as a GP Receptionist.
  • Experience working with EMIS Web.

Desirable

  • Strong organisational, administrative, and planning skills.
  • Excellent communication and IT skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and react effectively to emergency situations.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to multi-task.
  • Adhere to strict confidentiality protocols.
