We are looking for a friendly and vibrant General
Practice Nurse to join our well-established nursing team.
You will be NMC registered and will share in the usual
distribution of work across our nurse team.
Main duties of the job
Chronic Disease Management/Long Term Conditions within
the clinic setting
Health Promotion
To collaborate with and enable clients and other members
of the primary health care
Cervical cytology & teaching breast awareness
Treatment of minor injuries
LES/DES/QOF related clinical and administrative work
Routine immunisations / Childhood immunisations
Travel health advice and vaccinations
Menopause and HRT consultations
Smoking Cessation
Flu, Pneumococcal, Shingles and Pertussis in Pregnancy
vaccinations
Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings
Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture,
swabs
Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post

Wound care / ulcer care Treatment of minor injuries
Removal of Sutures
New Patient Medicals / Urinalysis / BP checks
ECGs
COPD / Asthma / Peak Flow Readings / Spirometry
LES/DES/QOF related clinical and administrative work
Ear irrigation
Routine immunisations / Childhood immunisations
Travel health advice and vaccinations
Menopause and HRT consultations
Smoking Cessation
Flu, Pneumococcal, Shingles and Pertussis in Pregnancy
vaccinations
Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who
are being examined by another clinician
Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings
Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture,
swabs
Experience in Diabetes / Coronary Heart Disease
Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to GPs
as appropriate
Ordering of vaccinations and equipment to maintain stock
levels
Participation in administrative systems in the Practice
At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate
records
A duty to advise colleagues of potential problems or
errors within the range of assigned tasks
Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when
required

- Car driver with clean licence
- Able to work at the desired times
- Flexible and able to cover for colleague absence through sickness, annual leave or study leave
- Experience of primary care
- Experience and competent in General Treatment Room Duties Experience of working in accordance with the NMC Code of Practice Experience of dealing with the public/patients
- Ability to work without direct supervision and determine own workload priorities
- Ability to work as part of an integrated multi-skilled team
- Able to work under pressure
