Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and reliable prescribing clerk to join our dedicated and friendly medicines team. You will be working in a busy and demanding environment and therefore need to be highly organised with a sense of urgency. Knowledge of working with prescriptions would be an advantage. The ideal candidate will have excellent organisational and strong inter-personnel skills, while being flexible and committed.
Hours of work should reflect general practice hours 37.5 hours per week within 8.00am to 6.30pm. Job-share and flexible hours will be considered
Main duties of the job
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Will be required to work on reception desk on a rota basis dealing with medication requests and queries from patients.
- Manage the towns prescription lines
- Management of the Practice Medicines Managers task box
- Process patients repeat prescriptions accurately and in a timely manner.
- Work closely with our medicines team, GPs/ANP, patients and local community pharmacies
- Be the main point of contact for patient enquiries regarding their prescriptions
- Make calls to and receive calls from patients, pharmacies and healthcare professionals
- Identify where medication reviews and other aspects of patient care are due and help organise this work.
- Support the management of the medicines hub email system
- To undertake general routine safety audits to support the clinical pharmacist and GPs with the medication review process.
- Support the repeat prescribing for identified vulnerable patients and act as their point of contact for medication queries and request.
- Have excellent communication skills and speak to our patients in a caring manner, you will need to be able to work on your own and to prioritise your work.
- Answer the telephone promptly and politely to both patients and the clinical team on behalf of the pharmacy team
- To undertake administrative tasks resulting from the prescribing process
- To work in accordance with the practice prescribing policy at all times.
- To ensure alerts are placed on patients notes relating to any prescribing issue
