Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an accomplished and highly motivated manager to join this established and well respected practice based in the London Borough of Brent.

Accountable to:Clinical Lead

Hours: 37.5 hours Monday to Friday with occasional need for flexible working out of core hours in agreement with the Clinical Lead

Annual leave: 20 days + UK Bank Holidays

Salary: Depending on qualification and experience

Main duties of the job

Candidates should have a proven management track record in a primary care setting. They should possess strong leadership skills with a sound knowledge of general practice and competence in business management. They will work as part of the senior team in the practice including the Clinical Lead, Finance Manager and Reception Manager.

We are a friendly training practice providing care for 9000 patients from a single site purpose built building located at Central Middlesex Hospital (NW10). We are part of Harness South PCN in Brent. Our team consists of a full range of non- clinical and clinical staff who work closely with the clinical lead to provide a high standard of patient focussed care. Our vision is to provide excellence in patient care, valuing the diversity of staff and patients, embracing change in a positive way and being proud of what we achieve. We will improve patient satisfaction through developing the quality of our care through improved team working and maintaining high standards of care as an active part of the local community.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Finance:

Maximise practice income through efficient claims management

Maximise practice profitability

Create annual cash flow and ensure robust budget management

Maintain practice book keeping

Ensure effective payments to suppliers

Access and patient services

To adopt a quality improvement approach to continuous development of the practice access strategy

To ensure that practice resources are matched to planned service delivery including supply and demand

To use multiple patient feedback sources to monitor and drive improvement of the patient satisfaction and experience with practice services

To develop and deliver a patient engagement strategy

To ensure the practice maximises its website and social media to promote practice services

Ensure the practice complies with NHS contractual obligations in relation to patient care

Ensure non-clinical staff are appropriately trained and understand their responsibilities

Ensure effective access to registration for new patients 3

Manage interface with practice PPG organising a regular programme of meetings

Manage practice complaints process in line with NHS guidance

Human Resources

Ensure maintenance of staff personnel records in line with best practice and current legislation including absence records

Ensure all mandatory and professional development training are completed and appropriately recorded

Maintain robust and well informed HR policies and procedures

Keep personal employment law knowledge up to date

Operate effective recruitment processes including induction and orientation with full land appropriate records and issue of employment contracts

Oversee practice appraisal system and training to meeting identify learning needs

Maintain effective communication with all staff and ensure a good level of pastoral care

Oversee staff meetings and social activities

Practice organisation:

Ensure that the practice delivers all services in line with its contractual obligation

Monitor achievement of all performance indicators and service outcomes and maintain a focussed delivery plan

Providing the Clinical Lead with regular management reports on performance and delivery plan

Contribute to Practice strategy, research and develop ideas, formulate objectives.

Evaluate performance of Practice team against objectives, identify and manage change.

Represent the interests of the practice at external meetings and maintain up to date knowledge of NHS developments

Develop and maintain effective communication both within the Practice and with all relevant outside agencies, with close liaison with ICS and PCN colleagues.

Maintain overall responsibility for administration, ensuring it remains effective and efficient.

Convene meetings, prepare agendas and ensure distribution of minutes ensuring that actions are documented and fulfilled.
