Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced Respiratory Nurse to join our Nursing Team at Belvidere Medical Practice. The position has become available due to retirement and we are looking for a candidate to work 8 hours per week.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will assess, diagnose and review patients who have respiratory conditions providing the appropriate treatment, care planning and self help information as appropriate. Experience in chronic disease management and asthma/COPD is essential.

About us

Belvidere Medical Practice is based in Shrewsbury caring for 6800 patients. Our team consists of 2 GP partners, 3 salaried GPs, a clinical pharmacist, a team of 3 practice nurses supported by an HCA. We are supported by an experienced management team and an amazing administrative/reception team. We are part of the Shrewsbury PCN and we benefit from a multidisciplinary team of clinical pharmacists, first contact practitioners, paramedics, social prescribers, care co-ordinators. We have a great team who all work together to ensure high quality care for all our patients.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Registered Nurse with postgraduate diploma or degree in COPD/asthma with experience in respiratory long term conditions who will provide excellent care to our patients.

To assess, plan, implement and evaluate all aspects of patient care including QOF, referrals to specialist pathways and developing individualised treatment/care plans.

Conduct annual respiratory reviews.

Run chronic disease management clinics the following areas COPD, asthma.

Asthma/Peak Flow Readings/Spirometry

Undertake audits and QUIP programmes for respiratory patients

  • Educated to degree level in Nursing.

Desirable

  • ARTP certification in spirometry.
  • Independent prescribing qualification.

Knowledge and skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good time management.
  • Team player.

Desirable

  • Good IT skills.
  • Knowledge of EMIS (primary care IT system).

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in an NHS setting.

  • Experience of working in General Practice and with EMIS.
