Job summary

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our nurse team. The ideal candidate will be friendly, caring and willing to work as part of a team. The candidate will work alongside other Health care assistants and general practice nurses to support and develop patient care.

Main duties of the job

The role includes patient medicals, dressings, injections, stitch removals, assisting with contraception and minor surgery clinics and monitoring of Blood pressure.

About us

We are a large practice based in central Nuneaton with 4 GP partners, 8 salaried GP's, 4 nurses, 2 HCA and we are a training practice so often have medical and nursing students.

We all support each other and offer a friendly working atmosphere

Job description

Job responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities:

  • NHS health checks and new patient checks
  • ECG recording
  • Spirometry and reversibility
  • Assisting the Practice Nurse with annual reviews; hypertension, CHD, Stroke and Peripheral Arterial Disease.
  • Undertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required under supervision of the Practice Nurse
  • When trained, administer B12 injections and flu vaccinations
  • pregnancy testing
  • Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly
  • Chaperoning duties
  • Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses
  • cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment
  • Vaccine/cold chain storage monitoring and recording of fridge temperatures.
  • Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
  • Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being
  • Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual
  • Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
  • Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being
  • Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the practice IPC policy

Essential

  • DBS check
  • Being able to work independently under nurse instruction following protocols after training

Desirable

  • Qualified to NVQ level 2 in Health and social care
  • Emis trained
  • Able to monitor vital signs
  • Wound care experience
  • injection competent
  • The above are desirable but not essential as training will be offered
