Job summary

Leatside Health Centre is looking for a salaried GP to cover 12 months of maternity leave, working 4-6 sessions. All applications will be considered, including newly qualified, in a well supported role within a training practice.

We have a large fun team, working to the BMA suggestion of 15 minute appointments at a maximum of 25 appointments per day, with a team coffee break each morning.

We are forward thinking and committed to providing multidisciplinary services for our local population.

Main duties of the job

Supported by the clinical and management team the post holder will be one of our regular GPs within the practice, working alongside the practice team.

About us

The daily coffee sessions give the opportunity for clinical staff to discuss any patient/clinical issues, and we also encourage lunch breaks together.

We are a large busy surgery located in Redruth, Cornwall, and have a combined list of circa 17,000 patients, with 6 Partners. We are members of North Kerrier East PCN.

Job description

Job responsibilities

You will be required to:

· Provide all GP services required

· Respond to medical problems presented by patients, including history taking, examination, investigation, diagnosis, treatment and referral where appropriate

· Provide appropriate preventative health care and advice

· Adhere to the practice prescribing formulary, local and national guidelines

· Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation

· Record clear and contemporaneous I.T. based consultation notes to agreed standards

· Compile and issue computer generated acute, and repeat prescriptions

· Support practice staff, and respond to requests for advice and assistance from the reception, secretarial, prescription, PA and nursing staff

· Attend MDT, clinical and practice meetings

· Provide additional enhanced services to the practice that meet the needs of the patient population and maximise income streams to the practice

· Awareness and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety, and QOF

· In general the post Holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care
