Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and motivated Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly GP practice team. The post holder will support the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality care to our patients, working under the supervision of our nursing and GP team.

  • Blood pressure checks, weight monitoring and ECGs
  • NHS Health Checks and chronic disease reviews (as per protocol)
  • Wound care and dressings (if trained)

Job Title: Healthcare Assistant (HCA) Location: GCS Hours: 22 hours per week (part-time) Contract: Permanent

About Us We are a friendly and supportive GP surgery committed to delivering high-quality care to our patients. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Healthcare Assistant to join our team.

About the Role As a Healthcare Assistant, you will support the clinical team in providing excellent patient care. You will work under the guidance of our nurses and GPs, delivering a range of clinical and administrative tasks in line with practice protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Phlebotomy (blood taking)
  • Blood pressure monitoring and weight checks
  • ECG recording
  • NHS Health Checks and chronic disease reviews (under protocol)
  • Supporting the flu and vaccination clinics
  • Wound care and dressings (if trained)
  • Assisting with infection control and health promotion activities
  • Maintaining accurate patient records on the clinical system
  • Supporting patients with lifestyle advice where appropriate
  • General administrative duties to support clinical staff

About You:

  • Previous experience working as an HCA in a GP practice or healthcare setting is desirable
  • Phlebotomy experience is essential
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Organised, reliable and flexible approach
  • Compassionate and committed to delivering patient-centred care

  • - Understanding of infection prevention and control
  • - Knowledge of confidentiality, safeguarding, and GDPR
