Job summary
We are looking for a part time committed individual to cover maternity leave, with a view to a permanent position, to join our reception team helping and delivering existing high standards of reception and administration duties. Candidates should be friendly, committed to working hard, have a positive attitude to learning, a good telephone manner and be computer literate.
The working hours are part time - 33.5 hours over 5 days
(Mon 12-6/Tues 12-6 /Weds 12.15-6 Thurs 7.4 -6 / Fri 12-6.00)
Main duties of the job
- To answer telephones and make appointments.
- Care navigate to appropriate service.
- Responsible for dealing with messages from patients/clinicians or external bodies and take appropriate action where required.
- Process general electronic/online repeat prescription requests.
- Register new patients.
- General administration tasks to support the practice.

- Booking, cancelling and amending patients appointments by using SystmOne clinical software.
- Using Patchs online consultation tool to contact patients
- Meet and greet patients to surgery
- Dealing with requests for test results.
- File medical records.
- Register new patients living within our catchment area.
- Open post, scanning and processing of the clinical correspondence received into surgery.
- Handling cash for private treatment and administration work.
- Dealing with outgoing post, franking and taking to Post Office.
- Open and close the practice at the beginning and end of a day following the opening and closing procedures.
- Be flexible at short notice to cover shifts at either site in the event of staff holidays and sickness.
- Ad hoc duties to assist in the smooth running of the surgery.
