Job summary

We are looking to recruit a Deputy Practice Manager to join and enhance leadership in our existing team, supporting the Practice Manager to deliver comprehensive healthcare to the patients served by the practice. You will be supported by, and work with, a diverse multi-skilled professional team of clinical and non-clinical friendly staff.

Main duties of the job

In summary, your role will be to work alongside the Partners, Practice Manager and the practice team to ensure the smooth running of the practice, taking lead when required with the objective of ensuring that the practice achieves its strategic objectives in a safe and effective working environment. Through the efficient day-to-day operations of the practice and sound financial management, you will also have the vision, willingness and drive to adapt to NHS targets and changes.

Previous management experience, leadership skills, competency in office IT and effective communication skills at all levels are essential.

Interested individuals should be self-motivated, have transferable management experience, and be keen to enhance the leadership and performance of the practice team, bringing energy and direction to the constantly evolving environment in General Practice.

About us

Gables Medicentre is a busy doctors surgery in North Coventry. Combined with our other sites we have a list size of approx 17000 patients.

Assist in guiding and supporting the practice through periods of change both internal and external.

Undertake some key financial management responsibilities.

Manage and provide leadership for all practice staff, ensuring that clear lines of reporting, delegation, and communication exist, and that appraisals and staff development are given the necessary attention to develop and maintain a motivated and effective team.

Line management of our team, including long term and temporary administrative and clinical staff, encompassing pre-employment and DBS checks, arranging induction programmes, manage the payroll, undertake staff appraisals and involvement in all duties associated with the human resources responsibility that come with this role.

Assist in overseeing all patient relationship management including the involvement of patients in practice development plans and communication to patients and stakeholders. To organise, attend and support the PRG by positive leadership and a listening ear.

Ensure that key protocols are understood and implemented within the organisation, to include clinical governance, significant event reporting and reviews, health and safety, infection control, equality and diversity and complaints.

Ensure compliance with CQC requirements and assessments.

Become proficient with our clinical and other IT systems essential for the smooth running of the practice.

Monitor premises maintenance

Step up to the role of Acting Practice Manager when the Practice Manager in on leave or absent.

Report to the Practice Manager and Accountable to the Partners.

Based at our main site, but will be expected to visit and work from any of our sites it required.
