Job summary

West Street Surgery has one of the largest and supportive nursing teams in the area. With 3 nurse prescribers, 3 treatment room nurses, 2 HCA/Phlebotomists and a regular locum nurse you will joining an experienced and established team.

We are currently looking for a nurse to replace a member of the team who has secured a position closer to her home.

The role is offered as part-time 0.6 (direct replacement), however full time hours will be considered if desired.

Main duties of the job

To provide and maintain a high standard of nursing care for patients as well as providing nursing assistance to the doctors and other members of the primary healthcare team. The duties will include all tasks normally undertaken by a Treatment Room Nurse and in addition any roles agreed between the nurse and the doctors as appropriate, having regard to current training.

West Street Surgery currently has a contract for anticoagulation management using INR Star software. Following training this will become part of your day to day rota together with the main nurse duties. 

In addition there is also the opportunity to contribute current skills or learn new skills in the management of long-term conditions.

West Street Surgery is a busy, dynamic, well managed GMS Practice based in Dunstable, South Bedfordshire. Close to the Bucks and Herts Borders, Dunstable is easily accessible from Milton Keynes, Aylesbury, Leighton Buzzard, Harpenden and St Albans.

The area has become an increasingly popular place to relocate to, helped in part by its affordable housing and good school catchment areas. The practice is located on the edge of the town, close to the Chiltern Hills, Dunstable Downs and Whipsnade. The practice boundary extends out to include many of the local villages.

Dunstable has a good range of shops and a newly refurbished leisure centre. Local attractions include the Grove Theatre, Priory House Heritage Centre and the Priory Church (where Henry VIII divorced Catherine of Aragon).
