Job summary
Aughton Surgery are looking for a part-time clinical coder to work 28 hours per week across 4 days.
The main duties of the role will be to be responsible for the coding of relevant information into the patients electronic healthcare records on EMIS Web clinical system from clinical correspondence, inbound documents and other patient related documents whilst adhering to the practice coding policy.
Coding will be done following the practice workflow system and using the document management software (Docman). In addition, the post-holder will also support the multi-disciplinary team, providing administrative support as required, in line with the needs of the practice.
You will also be required to scan and file correspondence when required, but this will usually only be when covering holiday.
Main duties of the job
The following are the core responsibilities of the clinical coder. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
a. Accurately coding data on EMIS Web into the patient record
b. Identifying relevant clinical information documented in patient correspondence, coding appropriately and completing any detailed actions
c. Input and extract data as required to support practice reports
d. File and store records as required
e. Photocopy documentation as required
f. Action all incoming emails and mail in a timely manner
g. Scanning of patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patients healthcare records
h. Input data into the patients healthcare records as necessary
i. Carry out system searches as requested
j. Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
k. Support all clinical staff with general administrative tasks as requested
l. Summarisation of new patient records
About us
Aughton Surgery has 5 partners (3 GP's, 1 Practice Manager and 1 Finance), as well as 3 Salaried GP's, 1 Physician Associate, 1 Practice Nurse, 1 HCA and 1 Clinical Pharmacist. We are also a training practice, so we regularly have GP registrars, medical students and student PA's as part of our team as well.
Our clinical staff are assisted by a friendly and knowledgeable admin/reception team.
All staff are highly supportive, and the surgery is a very enjoyable environment to work in
