Exciting job opportunity to work 4-7 sessions at Sid Valley Practice in Sidmouth.
Sidmouth is a beautiful town on Devon's Jurassic Coast, well known for its annual Folk Festival. It is only 30 minutes from Exeter, yet in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The role is list holding with flexibility to develop specialist interests and opportunities for Partnership with property investment. We have a brand new extension to our modern building, equipped with 2 surgical theatres, duty hub and private rooms. On site parking is available.
We are a friendly and energetic training practice looking to employ a forward-thinking GP with the clinical and organisational skills to work alongside our multi-disciplinary team. We have regular clinical meetings to support learning and encourage team participation and meet daily for coffee. This is best served on our sunny terrace with views of the beautiful Sid Valley!
Our contracted clinical services are delivered by skilled and motivated doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses and HCAs alongside our PCN team which includes; pharmacy, physio, metal health and wellbeing and Care Home team. We are rated good by CQC and have maintained excellent QOF scores for many years.

Main duties of the job
We are also extremely well served by our community district nursing, Urgent Community Response and our 24 hour Sidmouth Hospice at Home palliative care teams. Home visits are often managed by our community teams. Our admin team are kind and supportive and help our workload such as document processing and prescription tasks.
We have a dedicated duty team to support the duty doctor comprising ANPs and a duty PA, who is able to liaise with patients and community teams including emergency services. The duty team work in a dedicated duty team hub making for excellent collaborative working throughout the day. The duty doctor is also supported by the wider GP team via on the day appointments.
We are keen to preserve the ethos of good quality General Practice whilst cultivating careers which not only benefit patients but also our own families. Our GPs share their clinical responsibilities with offering GP training, providing surgical services (skin cancer, carpal tunnel and general minor surgery) and research. All list holding doctors have one admin session per week pro rata but extra time is given for additional responsibilities and training.
We are keen to support 'New to Practice GPs' who are enrolled in the new to practice fellowship and international GPs. We are currently in the process of applying for a visa sponsorship license.
About us
All face to face appointments are 15 minutes in duration. Your working day would be varied with routine pre-bookable face to face appointments, phone appointments and on the day duty appointments. We can arrange catch up slots in surgeries to keep things running smoothly.
Our branch surgery is in the Sidmouth Community Hospital and so offers easy access to the seafront and local high street. Both sites are easily commutable from Exeter and the surrounding area.
Our GPs receive competitive numeration, 6 weeks annual leave, one week study leave and one day of audit activity to support practice work. We are happy to consider the possibility of remote working for some sessions.
