Job summary

An opening for a General Practitioner Assistant (Administration) has arisen within this 11,000 patient practice located in central Tunbridge Wells.

We are looking for someone who is motivated and enthusiastic. Do you have a keen interest in good practice with a desire to make a difference? If so, we would love to hear from you.

This role may suit a trained medical administration clerk or a new applicant with no previous experience in the role, either way appropriate professional training will be given.

Main duties of the job

The following are the core responsibilities of the GP Assistant / clinical coder. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

a. Accurately read-coding data on EMIS Web into the patient record

b. Identifying relevant clinical information documented in patient correspondence, coding appropriately and completing any detailed actions

c. Input and extract data as required to support practice reports

d. File and store records as required

e. Photocopy documentation as required

f. Action all emails, reports and mail in a timely manner

g. Scanning of patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patients healthcare records

h. Input data into the patients healthcare records as necessary

i. Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately

j. Covering Reception calls during coffee breaks

k. Carry out system searches as requested

l. Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times

m. Summarising and tagging new patients notes

n. Support all clinical staff with general administrative tasks as requested.

Kingswood Surgery is a long-established and friendly Practice located in Tunbridge Wells on the Kentish border, about 30 miles southeast of Central London. We lie close to the border with East Sussex on the northern edge of the High Weald surrounded by many areas of outstanding beauty.

Kingswood surgery is a training practice with 3 partners and 6 salaried GPs. All supported by a Paramedic Practitioner, a strong nursing team together with exceptional reception and administrative support teams. A forward-thinking practice serving approximately 11,000 patients with an overall CQC rating of GOOD. We utilise EMIS Web and Anima, providing a wide range of enhanced services.

Our goal is to be a patient-centred practice, committed to the provision of high quality care by focusing and delivering effectively to the needs of our community, within a positive working environment.

To be responsible for the read-coding of relevant information into the patients electronic healthcare records on EMIS Web clinical system, adhering to the practice coding policy. In addition, the post-holder will also support the multi-disciplinary team, providing administrative support as required, in line with the needs of the practice.

Primary Responsibilities:

The following are the core responsibilities of the clinical coder. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

Induction Training

On arrival at the practice all personnel are to complete a practice induction programme; this is managed by the Deputy Practice Manager.

All staff will be required to partake and complete mandatory training as directed by the training coordinator, as well as participating in the practice training programme. Service Delivery
