Kings Corner Surgery in Sunninghill is looking for a flexible and enthusiastic part-time Receptionist / Administrator and would love to hear from you if you would like to join our friendly and supportive team! You will be working alongside our GP's, Nurses, Pharmacists and Administrative Staff to provide our patients with the very best care.
We are looking for a motivated individual who enjoys working in a challenging and busy environment.
Applicants must have the flexibility to cover for holidays and sickness, and be able to work both mornings and afternoons.
Experience of working in a GP surgery & knowledge of the EMIS Web clinical system is advantageous but not essential, full training would be provided. Excellent communication skills, the ability to work well in a team and willingness to learn is vital.
Main duties of the job
- Answer incoming telephone calls, transfer / redirect calls
- Book patients into clinics
- Care navigation and signposting
- Greet and check-in patients
- Process repeat prescription requests
- Maintain patient records and update necessary information and data on EMIS clinical system
- Action incoming emails and tasks
- Perform various administrative tasks to support the smooth operation of the practice reception office, including photocopying, scanning and documentation workflow
- Ensure the waiting area is clean and organised
About us
Kings Corner Surgery has a list of approximately 7500 patients who are cared for by 5 GPs, 3 nurses and a reception / admin team.
We are a Training Practice with 2 of the partners training new doctors and Physician Associates.

The following are the core responsibilities of the receptionist. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
- Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system
- Process telephone requests for appointments
- Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately
- Signpost patients to the correct service
- Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies
- Photocopy documentation as required
- Data entry of registrations and relevant patient information as required
- Input data into the patients healthcare records as necessary
- Direct requests for information i.e. SAR, insurance / solicitors letters and DVLA forms to the Medical Secretaries
- Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner
- Retrieve and file medical records
- Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
- Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards
- Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested
