Job summary
Cuckfield and Vale Medical Practice is looking for an
enthusiastic and proactive Practice Nurse to join our busy team. This is an
exciting time for the practice and offers the successful candidate a fantastic

Cuckfield is a
friendly, high achieving, training practice based in the mid-sussex area and
provides care to over 12,000 patients.
Main duties of the job
Band 6-7 pay, depending on expierence
The post holder will be an experienced practice nurse, who
acting within their professional boundaries, will provide high quality care for
patients. The role includes delivering nursing care including smears, immunisation,
health reviews, wound care and minor illness; The Implementation and evaluation of individual
treatment plans for chronic disease patients , especially those with diabetes. The
individual will work within the NMC Code of Conduct to agreed practice
standards and protocols.
Implement vaccination programmes for adults and children
Support the clinical team with all safeguarding matters, in
accordance with local and national policies
The senior nurse will be responsible for coaching and
mentoring other members of the team, which may include student nurses and
nursing associates. They will also be responsible for ensuring clinical
protocols and procedures are reviewed annually and carrying out relevant
audits, such as infection control.
About us
We are an established GP Surgery providing Primary Care Services to the Cuckfield /Hayward’s Heath area in West Sussex. We have a patient population of over 12,000 patients with 4 GP Partners and 2 Salaried GPs. As a teaching Practice we also have 2 registrars completing GP training.

- Experience of working in a primary care environment
- Experience of chronic disease management Diabetes Hypertension Asthma/COPD CHD
- Wound Care / Removal of sutures & staples
- Requesting pathology tests and processing the results, advising patients accordingly
- Immunisations (routine, childhood and travel)
- Womens health (Cervical cytology, contraception, etc.)
- ECGs
- Dopplers
- Chaperone procedure
- Understands the importance of evidence based practice
- Broad knowledge of clinical governance
- Ability to record accurate clinical notes
- Ability to work within own scope of practice and understanding when to refer to GPs
- Knowledge of health promotion strategies
- Understands the requirement for PGDs and associated policy
