Job summary

The role requires provision of high-quality service to patients of the practice, undertaking a range of duties to support our Practice Nurse team. Experience in a similar role would be desirable. Flexibility with working hours is required. We are looking for 16 hours per week (to include a Monday), however, structure of contracted hours will be discussed and agreed at interview.

Interviews will take place on Wednesday 22nd March 2023

Main duties of the job

General duties to include, but not limited to: Phlebotomy, BP checks, ECGs, healthy lifestyle support, long-term condition support, smoking cessation, basic wound care, urinalysis, immunisation/vaccination and ear irrigation.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To provide health education advice, assessment, screening, monitoring and treatment services which include:

Phlebotomy

  • Blood pressure checks
  • ECG
  • Urinalysis
  • Dietary advice
  • Weight Management
  • Smoking Cessation
  • Routine injections & immunisations
  • Dressings
  • Spirometry
  • Removal of sutures / clips
  • Assisting with the fitting of IUCD / IUS
  • First registration checks / health surveillance / general health advice
  • Assisting with minor operative procedures in the treatment room.
  • General and specific health screening and monitoring of the practice patients as required by the practice for all chronic disease cohorts, with referral to other members of the primary and secondary health care team as necessary.
  • Attainment of practice agreed targets and standards in health care and chronic disease management, as determined by the GPs.

Pathological specimens and investigatory procedures

To:

  • Undertake the collection of pathological specimens including intravenous blood samples, swabs etc. Perform investigatory procedures requested by the GPs
