Job summary
We are seeking a bright and enthusiastic individual to work 20 hours per week, to include Monday morning 0745-1245, Friday afternoons 1345-1845, with additional hours worked Tuesday to Thursday.
GP Receptionists are responsible for the efficient administration of all related
processes in order to support the GP's, including but not limited to incoming and
outgoing telephone calls, making patient appointments, results reporting, patient
services, prescriptions, clinical mail processing and use of practice IT packages in
order to support the work of the clinical staff.
The successful candidate will have a major impact in promoting a positive image of
the Practice to patients and other visitors.
Main duties of the job
Manage the telephone system and other technical
communication systems to ensure systems run smoothly.
Welcome patients and visitors as they enter the premises, book patients into the
appropriate clinics and deal with any other queries as they arise.
Advise patients of all relevant charges for non NHS services, accept payment
and issue receipts. Enter all relevant information and requests from patients onto the computer
and where necessary contact the doctor on duty.
Receive prescription requests and process accordingly.
Opening and sorting incoming mail. Distribution of electronic mail.
Respond to all queries from doctors/district nursing staff and community
pharmacists.
Update patients medication records, monitor and inform the Doctor if advice
needed.
Participate in scanning duties as requested to ensure all
information is updated onto computer in a timely fashion.
Answer internal and external calls promptly.
Provide patients with results and other callers with routine information they
may require in accordance with Practice policy adhering to confidentiality.
Undertake other clerical duties such as coding, mailing, word processing,
photocopying etc.

We have 3 Partners, 2 Salaried GPs and an ANP. Along with our nursing team, we have phlebotomists and a GPA.
Our clerical team is well established and extremely experienced and we all have a very dedicated work ethic.
