Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic doctor to join the Upper Norwood Group Practice, in Church Road, Crystal Palace. We are one of the largest training practices located in a modern premises, and are located near Croydon, Dulwich and Bromley, and cover all three catchment areas. As are a training practice we hold regular clinical meetings and support all doctors with their training programmes. In addition we have regular medical students from Kings and St Georges medical schools.

The practice is well managed and maintained. We pride ourselves of great support and training opportunities that aims to provide a supportive environment for the development of all trainee doctors.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and caring salaried GP (4-8 sessions per week, and an optional 1:6 Saturday rota) to join our friendly, well-established training practice that embraces innovation

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to undertake all of the duties that are normally expected of a General Practitioner including the following:Clinical sessions i.e. face to face consultations. Telephone Consultations e.g. when requested by patients you see or as part of your on-call duties. On-call duties such as :Home visits requested by patients or as part of QOF requirements, Completing repeat prescriptions, Medication reviews for patients,Reading and processing lab reports, Reading and processing hospital letters & hospital correspondences,Completing any relevant hospital referrals, Carrying out medical reports (this usually applies to patients with whom you are familiar with) Liaison and advice to non-clinical staff, Attending regular practice meetings and clinical meetings where relevant on the days you are working at the surgery as long as this does not interfere with any on-call duties. You will further be expected to adhere to all practice protocols which you will find on the N drive of the practice network.You will also be expected to take part in the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) tasks as part of your daily consultations and to be alert fro and respond to any areas that highlighted by EMIS when seeing patients.

Supervising any junior doctors at the practice (this is especially relevant to those who have been assigned to help you take on extra patients during your duties).

  • This multidisciplinary team will reduce the doctors workload, including fewer home visits, much lower repeat prescriptions and reduced clinical administrative work. In addition we have administrative staff available to help you which will reduced your administrative duties.
  • There are four full time GP partners, and a four salaried doctors, and a three-four trainee doctors. Additionally, we have clinical meetings on alternate weeks. The partners will support you with your growth and development throughout your career.
  • If you are interested in becoming a GP trainer, as we have a few trainers, you will be encouraged to become involved with the training practices and to become a trainer.
