Job summary
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, friendly and professional Treatment Room Nurse/HCA to join our team at Pontesbury & Worthen Medical Practice.
The successful applicant would be working alongside our current nursing team, and be responsible for the delivery of practice nursing services to our patient population. The role will include managing areas such as health promotion, chronic disease management, health prevention, as well as supporting the nursing, clinical, and management teams in achieving QOF targets.
Main duties of the job
To
be responsible for the delivery of practice nursing services, working as part
of the practice multidisciplinary team, delivering care within their scope of
practice to the entitled patient population. The post holder will be
responsible for a number of clinical areas working under the direct supervision of the Nursing
Team and GP Partners, and strictly in accordance with specific practice
guidelines and protocols.

Pontesbury & Worthen Medical Practice is a friendly, welcoming, dispensing GP surgery based across two sites; one in Pontesbury, one in Worthen. We have a wide and skilled clinical team including x7 GPs, x3 ACPs and x3 Practice Nurses alongside a HCA and Phlebotomist.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The following
will be the core responsibilities of the post holder. There may be on occasion,
a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors
such as workload and staffing levels:
- Patient health checks
- ECG recording
- Phlebotomy
- Chaperoning duties
- Wound care (ulcer/Doppler etc) and
Dressings (including 4 layer bandaging with training)
- Provide
routine nursing care within the post holders clinical remit to patients as
required in accordance with clinical based evidence, NICE and the NSF
- Removal of sutures
- Request and processing of
pathology as necessary and required
- Surgical equipment and vaccine
re-stocking and stock rotation
- Preparing and maintaining
environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions
including assisting GPs during the performance of procedures
- Assisting in the assessment and
surveillance of patients health and well-being
- Undertaking specific clinical
activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught
specifically in relation to that individual
- Helping to raise awareness of
health and well-being and how it can be promoted, delivering opportunistic
health promotion where appropriate
- Assisting with the collection and
collation of data on needs related to health and well-being
In addition
to the primary responsibilities, the post holder may be requested to:
- Act
as the audit lead, effectively utilising the audit cycle
- Monitor
and ensure the safe storage, rotation and disposal of medicaments
- Participate
in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care
- Support
and participate in shared learning within the practice
- Continually
review clinical practices, responding to national policies and initiatives
where appropriate
- Participate
in the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structured
approach i.e. root cause analysis (RCA)
