Job summary

It's an exciting time to join our Primary Care Network Pharmacy Team as we continue to grow and support the practice teams within our PCN.

This is a fast paced role and no two days are the same! We are looking for individuals who can use a broad range of transferable skills in addition to their clinical knowledge. Previous experience of working in a practice setting is not required as full training will be given. You will be required to work on a rotational basis in each of the Primary Care Network settings so own transport is essential.

Good communication skills are essential as you will be liaising with our practice teams daily in addition to speaking with patients.

If you have a 'can-do' approach and a desire to join a forward thinking team who can offer the opportunity for professional growth, then we would love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

  • To support the issue of repeat prescriptions to ensure high quality, safe and timely repeat prescribing
    • To provide supervision, training, and professional leadership to the practices administrative staff
    • To communicate effectively and professionally with patients on the telephone, electronically or face to face
    • To update patient medical records in an accurate and timely manner
    • To support systems to review medication usage and synchronisation of medication supplies; amendment durations of prescriptions to match actual medication use; co-ordinate and lead efforts to satisfy medication monitoring requirements; liaise with the administrative team in regard to patient discharge information and clinical letters in order to perform medication reconciliation; assist GP's and the PCN Pharmacy team with medication reviews
    • To respond to medication queries from patients and staff and action as appropriate in accordance with practice protocols

    About us

An opportunity has arisen to join the Primary Care Network (PCN) of Kingskerswell & Ipplepen Medical Practice, Albany Surgery in Newton Abbot and Bovey Tracey and Chudleigh Medical Practice. The teams across the three practices have an excellent reputation as friendly, hardworking and high achieving accredited training practices. The practices have been rated Good or Outstanding by CQC, with consistent, positive GP patient survey results which demonstrate the strong patient centred customer focus and efficiency of the teams.

We are currently looking to expand our PCN team which currently consists of a Clinical Pharmacist team, Social Prescribing Team and Paramedic Team. We formed as a PCN in May 2019 and have since then proactively grown our clinical workforce which supports us at practice and at network level.

We are looking to employ two full time Pharmacy Technicians to work as part of our PCN team which currently consists of a Pharmacy Lead, two Clinical Pharmacists and a Pharmacy Technician.

NOTE: A job share will be considered for the right candidate. Please clearly indicate on your application if you are applying for part-time hours.
