New Dover Road Surgery

This job is now closed

Job summary

We are looking to expand our clinical team with an ACP or Nurse Prescriber. This will be a new role to our Practice, and so we are looking for a dynamic individual, keen to work with our existing team and shape this new role.

We wish to recruit either an Advanced Clinical Practitioner, or a Practice Nurse who can independently prescribe.

The role will be varied, with a mixture of triage, minor illness clinics, care home work and other duties. Candidates should therefore be able to demonstrate experience in clinical decision making, a passion for excellent patient care and the ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team.

Main duties of the job

As a new role, there is the opportunity to help inform and shape duties according to the successful applicant's skills and experience. However, there are certain areas we require additional clinical support with, as follows:

  • Triaging and responding to online consultation submissions
  • Running minor illness clinics
  • Leading on the care home enhanced service: this will entail conducting ward rounds with our care homes; ensuring care plans are kept up-to-date; attending MDT meetings; ensuring residents' medication is reviewed and liaising with families and staff.
  • Undertaking some home visits
  • Supporting the GPs, Practice Nurses and HCAs with care of patients with long-term conditions
  • Supporting GPs with clinical admin, possibly to include reviewing test results, medication and clinical correspondence

About us

We are a busy city-centre GP Practice with a close-knit team. Providing an excellent, individualised model of care to our varied patient population is at the heart of what we do.

We have a list size of 10,700 patients, encompassing a very diverse population with a wide range of needs.

We operate from a converted house which has a staff car park and is in easy walking distance to Canterbury city centre and bus station.

Our team consists of 6 GP Partners, a team of Practice Nurses, a team of receptionists and administrators. The addition of an ACP would allow us more capacity and flexibility within our clinical team.

We are a training Practice and so value the education of others, and the contribution our staff members can make to this.

We value teamwork and the contributions of every member of the team. We aim to provide a positive working environment, and always try to cater for individual needs where possible.
