Job responsibilities

We are seeking a GP with specialist knowledge in diabetes and diabetic patient care for our fast-paced two-site GP practice based in Chobham and West End. We have look after over 12,000 patients, about 550 with diabetes.

We are looking for a GP Diabetic Specialist to be based in practice for one session a week for a 12-month maternity cover. The Doctor will consult patients and help support the practice team in diabetes care. There is support available from the PCN pharmacists and community nurses.

• KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• Essential criteria
• - Able to demonstrate specialist knowledge and skills in the management of patients with diabetes.
• - Good communication skills both verbal and written
• - Able to demonstrate skills in dictation and letter writing.
• - Competence in teaching and training other health care professionals and a commitment to cascading knowledge and skills.
• - Knowledge of NHS developments that may impact on the service.
• - Computer literacy.
• - Basic keyboard skills.
• PERSONAL QUALITIES
• Essential criteria
• - Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• - Evidence of Continued Professional Development.

Qualifications

• - GMC Registration with license to practice
• - Further education and training in diabetes

Experience

• - To be spending at least one session a week undertaking general practice
• - Ideally five years experience as a GP.
• - Demonstrable experience in management of Diabetes
• - Experience in investigation techniques.
• - Experience of working in a multi-professional team
• - Experience in involvement in audit.
