Job summary

Main duties of the job

The role is fast paced and requires a positive can-do attitude. We would welcome applications for candidates who are interested in full time, part time and job share working patterns.

Main Duties of the Job

The main duties of our receptionists include:

Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system.

Processing requests for appointments, prescriptions, test results and other general enquiries.

Signposting patients to the most appropriate service

Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, colleagues, and external agencies

Registering new patients

The scanning of patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patients healthcare records

This list is not exhaustive and on occasion there may be a requirement to carry out other tasks.

About us

We are a single handed very busy medical practice based in the beautiful village of Lanchester, just outside of Durham City.

Our Reception Team are our first point of contact to patients and visitors. You will meet, greet, book appointments and create an exceptionally warm first impression of the Practice.

JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: MEDICAL RECEPTIONIST

REPORTS TO: OFFICE MANAGER

HOURS: 37 hours per week

Job summary:

The post holder will provide a high quality and responsive reception service to all patientsensuring that the reception runs efficiently and in accordance with the practice requirements.

Job responsibilities:

General Duties

To make appointments and book patients in when they arrive for an appointment in accordance with the practice appointment system and to provide a helpful and friendly service to patients ensuring also that the reception area is tidy and welcoming.

To answer telephones promptly ensuring that all in-coming lines are covered at all times.

To comply with the practice protocol for prescription requests andqueries.

To comply with the practice procedure for the registration of new patients, temporarypatients, and those seen as emergency or immediately necessary.

To follow practice procedure regarding letters that arrive at the surgery eitherexternally by post or internally from the hospital.

To comply with the protocols in place at the practice for the scanning/indexing andworkflow of correspondence.

To comply with the protocol for deducting patients who have moved out of thepractice catchment area

To comply with all relevant practice procedures, regulations and protocols and tomaintain confidentiality at all times with particular reference to patient records.

To liaise with the Office Manager and/or Practice Manager when required and followinstructions from them when necessary.

To undertake any other duties as deemed appropriate by the Practice.

Health & Safety

To follow the health and safety policies and procedures of the practice and anynational and local guidance and regulations.

To actively identify and report any health and safety hazards to the Office Manager
