Job summary

Practice Nurse Opportunity Full Time/Part Time/Jobshare

We have an exciting opportunity for a practice nurse to join our busy, supportive and friendly team. Ideally you will be an experienced practice nurse, but we are prepared to offer training to a newly qualified nurse or someone looking to move into General Practice nursing.

Initially the post is 24 hours p.w. over 3 days, with some flexibility around the exact hours and days.

Applicants must have excellent communication, organisational, clinical skills and demonstrate initiative. Candidates should be able to work alone or as part of a team.

Main duties of the job

Ideally the successful applicant will be expected to have a practical and confident working knowledge of:

chronic disease management, especially COPD, Asthma and diabetes,

delivery and management of childhood vaccinations,

travel health and vaccinations,

cervical screening,

contraception,

wound care,

and health promotion,

but we are prepared to support the right candidate with ongoing training for any of the above areas.

We are a strong, cohesive four partner practice who strive for clinical excellence, providing services under a GMS contract serving a patient list of around 8,000from a diverse ethnic and economic background.

We are innovative and forward thinking and actively involved in our local GP Federation and PCN

Supported by our multidisciplinary team, which includes:

  • Practice Nurses

  • Health care assistant and phlebotomist

  • Social Prescribers
  • MSK First Contact Physiotherapist

Experienced reception and administration teams who help to significantly reduce paperwork and pressure on our clinicians.

  • GP Registrars and medical students from Leicester and Nottingham Medical Schools
  • We hold regular in-house and external training sessions and monthly Clinical Education sessions
  • Organise regular social events for the whole practice team
